Top Track Tuesday - #7

This week I had the choice of three absolutely stunning tracks for the weekly accolade that is, Top Track Tuesday. One of which I wrote about this morning and think it may have just missed this 'award' because this was so out of the blue ... Anyway, this week, I have chosen Paper Aeroplanes and their new single, Multiple Love.
This stunning little track, with one of the most simplistically beautiful videos to match, is based upon nothing but a piano and a voice, but bears comparisons, for me, to the likes of Adele and Lana Del Rey in it's heart-wrenching honesty and emotion. It's a story of love, loss, regaining the strength to be happy and to be without someone, all simultaneously.
It seems that both the vocal and the video were shot in one take and, speaking as someone who has recorded his own songs, I can tell you that that is very, very hard to do - especially to this caliber.
Andy Schrav writes an inspiring piece of music, to which Sarah Howells sings with the utmost consideration and passion that her being can surely give - it shows. Her style of softly touching the heart through the enactment of music is stunning and I think that this could be the start of something incredible.
The video, despite being one in which Sarah literally sits and sings to the camera, manages to touch you as well. You become mesmerised by every word that she makes and the darkness behind her is surely a symbol for what the lyrics suggest she has only just emerged from in her life.

I'm in absolute awe this week and think it could be one of the best ever. Paper Aeroplanes have found a new and very high place in my books and I'd hope a string of instantly timeless tracks are to come.
Paul.
