Some Gossip, Just For You ....

Nothing specifically for you ... You should know I pun almost everything by now. Gossip are back, but isn't that worth writing about anyway?! Yes.
Their latest track is called Perfect World and I'm not as hung up as I thought I'd be to be honest. I thought they had a good few tracks on Music For Men and their previous albums had a couple of un-missable's, but this seems to settle the buzz and dust that they'd created for themselves and I can only hope that it's the quiet before the comeback storm.
Don't get me wrong, it's a pretty solid track that is plausible and something that the super-fans will get excited about, but, for me, it's a little bit safe and that's not what I've come to know ... especially not of Beth Ditto.
Her singing, as an example, isn't as intensely powerful as before ... and that shows because she is being compared left, right and centre to Adele, someone who is within the heart-break category of music, not Pop/Rock. She seems to have been auto-tuned too, whereas before, even if there was auto-tune about, it wasn't noticeable.
The music has a very '80's feel to it, especially during the chorus, which happens to be the best and most powerful part of the song. The verses don't have a whole lot to them and I wonder if that's why I feel that something has been a little misplaced.
It's very annoying to sit here and write like this because I don't think it's a bad song at all, but I was wishing for more when I heard that Gossip were back ... Hence I haven't written this review since it's premiere on April 5th.

What's your take? Perfect world or Profound world?!
Paul.
